Denes Kemeny

In 1978 he obtained a doctor's degree in veterinary medicine in Budapest, in 1990 he graduated as a water polo coach at the Institute of Continuing Education of the College of Physical Education, and in 1998 he received a diploma as a water polo master coach. In addition to his sports activities, until 1996 he also worked as a practical and research veterinarian. In 1997, he became the federal captain of the Hungarian men's water polo team, and held this position for a total of 15 years, until 2012. Between 2000 and 2008, he won three Olympic championships and one world championship with the national team, making him one of the most successful federal captains in the history of the sport. He held the position of president of the Hungarian Water Polo Association from 2012 to 2018.

Over the years, he has received many prestigious awards, in 2000 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, then in 2003 he was awarded the Middle Cross, in 2004 the Middle Cross Star. In 2006 he received the Prima Primissima Award, and in 2008, after the Beijing Olympics, as a three-time Olympic champion as federal captain, he was able to receive the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Since 2008, he is a honorary citizen of Budapest, and has been elected several times as the federal captain of the year, and in Miskolc a sports pool has been named after him.

After 2013, in 2017 he was elected to the FINA's (International Swimming Federation) training committee, of which he is currently the vice-chairman, and besides these he is an honorary associate professor of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science at Semmelweis University and in addition, he holds on-site trainings for larger Hungarian and foreign companies on request."
