Political and economic cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia has been significantly strengthened in recent years, both in terms of bilateral relations and in the framework of the Visegrad Cooperation. With its large Hungarian minority - 450,000 people - Hungary places great emphasis on strengthening Hungarian-Slovak relations, both nationally and politically.
In 2018, Slovakia was the second most important target market for Hungarian companies following Germany, with the value of Hungarian exports to the Slovak market exceeding EUR 5.4 billion, an increase of more than half a billion euros compared to the statistics from the previous year.
Based on preliminary surveys and market feedback, Hungarian companies can establish successful cooperation in the export of construction materials, processed meat products, frozen foods, alcoholic beverages, mainly wines, printing products, packaging technology, wastewater treatment technology.
