Croatia is Hungary's most important partner in the Western Balkans. In addition to being one of the first countries to recognize Croatia's independence and to establish diplomatic relations, Hungary has supported Croatia's aspirations to join the European Union since the beginning.

Hungary's economic relations with Croatia have been developing very rapidly since 1995, and the volume of trade between the two countries has doubled during this period. The value of Hungarian exports to the Croatian market increased to EUR 1.66 billion in 2018, an increase of more than EUR 89 million.

In addition to Croatia's geographical proximity, it is an important target market for Hungarian businesses due to its transit nature, as it provides indirect access to Western European countries and, through Croatian port cities, to Africa.

Based on preliminary surveys and market feedback, Hungarian companies can establish successful cooperations in areas such as agriculture, food, mechanical engineering and IT.
